Dr. Ayeni has extensive medical training and experience. He graduated with an M.D. degree in 1992 from the College of Health Sciences, Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Nigeria. He obtained a postgraduate diploma in 1995 from the Department of Preventive Ophthalmology, University of London, England. He did his family medicine residency training at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan, from July 1996 to June 1999, and served as a chief resident in family medicine at the same institution from July 1999 to February 2000. From 2000 to 2003, he worked as a family physician in Fitzgerald, Georgia. He moved to Connecticut in 2003, and worked as a family physician with Generations Family Health Center, Inc. in Norwich. From 2005 until 2007, he worked at the Backus Health Center in Colchester as the medical director of primary and urgent care services, where he provided primary care, urgent care and worker’s compensation and occupational health services. In October 2007, he established Colchester Family Medicine and has been in solo private practice ever since.
Throughout his professional career, Dr. Ayeni’s varied experiences have enabled him to assist his patients in becoming as healthy as they can be. He has a special interest in utilizing newer medical technologies such as electronic health records and electronic prescribing that make his patients’ experiences with his office, pharmacies, referral to specialists and other coordination of care as seamless and efficient as possible.
